JAWS Illustrations

Before Peter Benchley’s gripping novel, JAWS, had been published, Producer David Brown asked Production Designer Joe Alves to render a series of drawings that would depict the soon-to-be-released novel’s most terrifying sequences in an effort to pitch the idea as a motion picture to Universal Studios.

Here are authorized reprints of Joe Alves’ original charcoal illustrations, presented on unfinished heavy paper stock and measuring a large 11″ x 17″. Each is hand lettered and hand-signed (including shark caricature) by Joe Alves.
